Geita

What generators are hired for in Geita

Processing plants

Ball mills, crushers and CIL or CIP circuits are large motor loads that need prime power sized for starting surge, usually 500 kVA and above.

Small and medium mines away from the grid

Sites in Nyang’hwale, Mbogwe, Chato and Bukombe are further from grid power and workshops, so a reliable rented set with servicing included avoids lost production.

Bridging power during expansion

Temporary power while a new plant section is built or a permanent generator or grid connection is on order.

Sizes

300 to 2,500 kVA

Generators are sized on the total running load and on the largest motor and how it starts. The calculator below gives a figure for your own loads.

Enclosed diesel generator of around 400 kVA on a concrete plinth beside a small wash plant
300 to 500 kVA
Containerised diesel generator of around 800 kVA beside a crushing and milling circuit
500 to 1,000 kVA
Two containerised generators running synchronised at a large processing plant
1,000 to 2,500 kVA
SizeTypically powersGood to know
300 to 500 kVAAlluvial wash plants, small ball mill circuits, construction sites, hotels, offices and hospitals on standbyCovers most small gravity and wash plants, with headroom for motor starting when the largest motor has a soft starter.
500 to 1,000 kVACrushing and milling circuits, larger processing plants, factories, large construction and road projectsSized on the largest motor and how it starts as much as on the total load.
1,000 to 2,500 kVAFull processing plants, mine site power, industrial facilities, temporary power during grid worksOften supplied as two or more sets running synchronised, so one can be serviced while the others carry the load.

Our smallest hire is 300 kVA, which covers this load.

Tip: the largest motor started direct on line is driving the size. A soft starter or VFD on it would let you hire a smaller set.

Included in every hire

Delivered, installed, run and serviced

Delivery and collection

The set is transported to your site and collected at the end of the hire, anywhere in Tanzania.

Installation and commissioning

Positioned, connected to your distribution board and tested under load before handover.

Operator on site

An operator stays with the generator for the whole hire, running it and checking it so faults are caught before they stop your work.

Servicing during the hire

Oil, filters and routine service on schedule, and breakdown response while the set is on hire.

Fuel
Supplied by you, the customer using the generator. We estimate the fuel use from your running hours so you can plan deliveries to site.
Minimum hire

FAQ

Generator rental in Geita: questions

What size generator does a gold processing plant in Geita need?

Provide the mill, crusher, pump, auxiliary and other loads with their starting arrangements and operating sequence. The location or plant name does not establish a minimum generator size. Use the calculator as an initial check, then have the actual duty assessed against the proposed prime or standby rating.

Can you supply a generator to a site outside Geita town?

Yes, including Nyang’hwale, Mbogwe, Chato and Bukombe. Tell us the site location and road access when you ask for a quote.

How long can I rent a generator for?

From one week, the minimum for mining and industrial work, to months of continuous prime power. Tell us how long you need it when you ask for a quote.

What size generator for a ball mill?

Give the electrical specialist the motor data, starting arrangement, driven duty and other simultaneous loads. Generator response and acceptable voltage and frequency changes also need assessment. A fixed kVA-per-kW multiplier cannot confirm a suitable set, and a different starter should not be assumed to halve the requirement.

What size generator for a CIL or CIP plant?

Prepare the actual load schedule for preparation, agitation, pumping, carbon handling and any on-site elution, together with auxiliary loads. Confirm simultaneous use, motor starting and the intended operating hours. A process name does not establish a kVA range; any single or synchronised-set arrangement needs a coordinated supply assessment.

Can two generators run together for a big plant?

They can where synchronising, load sharing, controls and protection are designed for the installation. Check the complete plant load and starting duty. Keeping production running with one set removed for service requires enough remaining capacity; multiple sets alone do not guarantee that redundancy or a straightforward later expansion.

How much fuel does a 500 kVA generator use?

For teaching arithmetic, assume a 0.8 power factor and 75% of the 500 kVA rating: output is 300 kW. An assumed 0.25–0.30 litres per kWh then gives 75–90 litres per hour, or 1,500–1,800 litres over 20 hours. This is not a consumption quote. Use the actual set’s fuel curve and measured load schedule to plan the fuel supplied by you.
